Covid-19 Update | Blended learning is here and Yeovil Learning is underway

Our learners have managed to keep learning this summer and autumn with their tutors using Microsoft Teams and Google classroom online thanks to the amazing help of The Gryphon School IT department.  Now learning is continuing with a blend of online and in-person learning.  Following Covid guidelines some of our Learners and Tutors are coming back to the Centre complete with masks and visors and socially distancing.

Meantime, Fay Dimdore has joined the team, developing our one to one Learning in Yeovil which will start in the New Year.  This has been made possible thanks to a grant from the Somerset Community Foundation.

Please note that we will try to get back to you as possible but please be patient if it takes a bit longer – we are part-time!

The Rendezvous Learning Project can help you get the Maths and English qualifications you need for going to college, finding an apprenticeship or applying for jobs.

“If I hadn’t got my maths qualification then I’d be kicking around Sherborne in a dead end job watching everyone else go off and do exciting things. Not that won’t happen…”

It’s really different to school or college – you get your own Tutor who will support you one to one, while you learn at your own pace with no pressure.

“It’s good that it’s 1:1 so I can work at my own pace. At school, the teacher has a whole class. If one person gets lost, there’s no time for 1:1 and so I got a step behind.”

English and Maths

  • Our tutors will work with you on Level 1 and level 2 English and/or Maths qualifications (Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE pass)
  • We have a team of volunteer tutors who are there to help you achieve – we’ve got a really high pass rate
  • One to one sessions take place in our Centre at the Rendezvous or online using Teams – we will help with the tech if you need it
  • Sessions at the centre in Sherborne run from 2-4pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays where you meet your tutor and there is access to computers and printers.  If you live in Gillingham or Yeovil then get in touch as we can arrange a tutor for you there.
  • You can start at any point in the year and take the exam when you’re ready.
