Cakes, coffee and a ‘RendezVous’ for Friends in the heart of Sherborne.

First Dorset Credit Union

Every Tuesday morning  you’ll see a steady stream of people heading for the crypt under the Cheap Street church to sample the delicious home-made cakes and biscuits that are on offer at the RendezVous.

Christine Gibbs, a member of the Executive committee of the RendezVous, better known as the Sherborne Youth Resources Centre, came up with the brilliant idea of raising money for the centre by  running coffee mornings once at the RendezVous.

In the past the Friends of the RendezVous have held cake stalls and people seemed to appreciate the homemade cakes and biscuits, so when the kitchen here in the centre was renovated we thought it would be very nice to invite people in to meet their friends here and have a chat over a cup of coffee. All the money that the Friends make goes to help with keeping the centre going. And if any cakes are left, then they soon disappear when the youngsters come in later in the day!

Regulars, Janet Cooper and Margaret Townsend think that

It is a marvelous idea  and gives great enjoyment to people in the town and, knowing  that the money raised is going to such a worthwhile cause, makes one feel slightly less guilty about having some of the delicious chocolate cake.
