We have moved! Our Gillingham Young Parents’ support group now runs from the Gillingham Youth Club, Cemetery Road (Thursdays from 10-12 noon) and our young families couldn’t be happier with the move to larger premises.
The hall is big enough to have both babies and toddlers at the session and the two and three-year-olds immediately made the most of the outdoor space playing with bubbles and balls giving the parents a chance to reconnect with the staff and each other.
Sarah and Bekah who run the group have been joined by new young parent volunteer Grace and between them already have lots of ideas and plans for the future. After only one session the group are planning to seek donations of outdoor toys and also some topsoil to revitalise the unused raised bed so they can do some child-friendly planting.
We are extremely grateful to Riversmeet Leisure Centre and the new Thrive CIC, which has been set up to support wide-ranging community facilities in the Gillingham area, for facilitating the move to our new home. We cannot thank Alan Waistell (General Manager of Riversmeet Leisure Centre and Director of Thrive) and his team enough for their continued support and enthusiasm. We’re looking forward to a long and successful relationship with them and a secure and exciting future for our young parents.
