Look at this fantastic feast prepared and beautifully presented by some young people in year 8 who are taking part in Bekah’s Kitchen which relaunched in September as an invitation-only project.
We are really proud of the way our budding cooks have leapt to the challenge of not just cooking but also getting to grips with Level 2 food hygiene. Over the course of the project they will be preparing a new meal every week before showing off their new kitchen skills by cooking a meal for their friends and family.
Bekah’s Kitchen is run by the amazing Bekah (also a Gillingham outreach worker and young parents creative volunteer extraordinaire). She is supported by Josh, one of our newest additions to the team who also doubles up as a volunteer tutor.
The project is funded by a small grant from Dorset Council. It was originally scheduled for 2020 and we are hugely grateful to Ian and his team at the council for letting us postpone the project start until now. It’s been a long time coming but it’s fantastic to see the centre being used again.
