The new normal – getting there this September!

News

It certainly feels as though things are getting back to normal and we couldn’t be happier! This week has seen us re-open the centre properly for the first time since March 2019: the soft furniture is back in place; we’ve welcomed two new staff members; restarted ‘Bekah’s Kitchen’; invited our local PCSO, Jamie Randell, to visit our young parents’ group in Sherborne to talk about home safety; restarted our learning sessions in Sherborne and Yeovil after the summer break and managed to avoid a flooding issue in the centre.

The centre in Sherborne is now manned consistently between 9.30 and 4 (and often a bit before and after) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The phone is operational again although individual team members can be contacted directly via mobile.

Mental Health and Wellbeing – sessions are again being held face to face in the centre or at the Gryphon School (school referral only). Find out more here and use the direct wellbeing@ email or numbers on the contacts page to contact the team.

Young Parents – running as normal in Sherborne (Wednesday) and Gillingham (Thursdays). Home visits are possible with Health Visitor referrals – find out more here and use the Young Parents contacts to get in touch.

Learning – sessions running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Sherborne and on Tuesday from our new base at the Samaritans in Yeovil. You can get in touch with Julie or Faye via the learning section on the website.

Outreach – continues to run in Gillingham and Shaftesbury on a weekly basis on Thursdays. Sherborne outreach sessions will be winding down soon to be replaced by centre-based work.

Bekah’s Kitchen – is up and running by invitation only on Fridays.

A2A – targetted work (moving ‘from anxious to assured’) that has grown out of the Discovery Project will be starting on Thursdays in late September.

Behind the scenes – finance and admin – Helen (CE), Jo (Finance) and Andrea (Admin) are contactable using the number and emails online or you can find Andrea in the centre every day Monday 9.30-4 (advance notice appreciated where possible).
