Local support from Sherborne Town Council is helping us provide local services for young people in Sherborne.

It was a real pleasure to welcome the Mayor of Sherborne, Anne Hall, to the centre recently and show her some of our work in action. The Mayor met some of the young parents taking part in the weekly support group, saw some English and Maths sessions taking place and met some of the team.

We also had the opportunity to give a brief presentation at the council’s Annual Parish Meeting in April – the first face-to-face council community session since before the pandemic began. We were delighted to see and hear the genuine community concern about young people’s wellbeing and left the meeting optimistic for the potential for collaborative working in the town. The first follow-up meeting is already scheduled – so watch this space!

We are extremely grateful to the Mayor and her colleagues at the council for approving a grant to help us deliver our programme of work with young people in Sherborne and for her generous donation of £2,000 from the Mayoral Fund.
