Five years have passed since the making of this video but we are delighted that Rhys has kept in touch and pops in to share news from time to time.
Rhys used to drop in to the Rendezvous in ‘the old days’ when the centre was able to offer open-access sessions but after he finished school he came to us to learn. He worked hard and passed the English qualifications he needed for his Level 3 apprenticeship.
Rhys’ apprenticeship was with a high-end kitchen company and he often came back and did small repairs for which we remain grateful. He always refused to take payment for his time or materials and repeatedly told us he couldn’t ask for payment because of “everything you did for me.”
So, what of him now? We are really pleased to report that he is still working at the Yeovil-based kitchen company, he’s still working hard and now has apprentices under him.
And, in September he stopped by to introduce us to his newborn son, Luca, and we wish him, his long-term girlfriend Meg and his new family the very best.
We are as proud of him as he is of his baby.
