Shortage of opportunity and support for young people

News

As the number of young people aged 16-24 who are NEET (not in employment, education or training) rises to a million, it’s clear the services offered by the Rendezvous charity have never been more vital. At the Rendezvous we turn national statistics into success stories, helping more than 150 young people in the last academic year to improve their mental health and wellbeing, while achieving vital qualifications in English + Maths – opening up opportunities for further education, apprenticeships and work.

Young people “are caught in a perfect storm”, says Alan Milburn, author of the government report on NEET, with the number of young people citing a mental health condition almost doubled to more than four in 10, according to the Youth Futures Foundation.

Milburn says there is no shortage of effort from young people – “the shortage is of opportunity and of support”.

If you can, please help us give local young people aged 14-25 the opportunity and support they need and deserve, by volunteering or donating:
