Alongside the regular support and learning services we offer young people we also run projects in different local areas.
Some are year-round long-term projects like our outreach programme in Gillingham, while others are shorter special projects that allow us to try something different.
We aim to learn from our projects and use that knowledge to improve our services in future.
Current projects

From Anxious to Awesome, the Discovery Social Group
Building on the success of the Discovery Group project (a special project with CAMHS and the Dorset Mental Health Forum) and at the request of the young people involved we now run a targetted social group for alumni of the Discovery Group (Tuesdays, term-time only).

Gillingham Film: Find Your Way…
Our latest film project is underway! And it’s a win-win situation for everyone. Gillingham Town Council have invited young people to help them promote the town’s new urban orienteering trail by producing two new films.

Meet on the streets: Gillingham
If you are a bit too old for youth club or you can’t get to one of our venues, we have teams of Rendezvous staff who meet young people in the streets or parks in different towns.

Meet on the streets: Shaftesbury
We’re looking forward to the Covid-19 restrictions easing off so we can start our latest new outreach programme in Shaftesbury.
Past projects

Discovery project
UPDATE: This project with CAMHS and the Dorset Mental Health Forum has now formally ended but we are continuing to build on the things we learn and run our own targetted small group work focussing on mental health.

Rendezvous Yeovil: Learning
UPDATE: The Rendezvous Yeovil Learning Programme is now an integral part of our learning offer. Having started as a pilot in 2020 it has gone from strength to strength since the doors opened. Check out our general learning pages for current information

Emotionally Connected Sherborne
UPDATE: This project came to a successful end. We helped the Primary School to set up inschool counselling and access funding, the Gryphon school project was disseminated across other schools and our own mental health programme at The Rendezvous was further supported by the Friends of the Yeatman Hospital.

Emotional Wellbeing in School
UPDATE: Normal service has resumed at the Gryphon School and we are delighted that relationships with the students and the staff team continue to go from strength to strength

Gillingham film 2021
UPDATE: This film project has been successfully completed and was a catalyst for the starting of the larger and more ambitious Media Makers project which forms part of a five-year National Lottery funded project, Gillingham Youth Collective.

Meet on the streets: Sherborne
UPDATE: This project ended successfully. We continued to fund sessions to run throughout the summer of 2021 ourselves and are delighted that BBC Children in Need have again agreed to fund a further 10 sessions a year for three years (2022-2025).
