Work

Our learning and volunteer team are here to help young people who are starting out in the world of work. If you’re unemployed or want to switch jobs we can help.

Our project, The Future is Yours, can help you look for work, prepare your CV or write application letters and fill in forms. And then, when you’re invited for an interview, we can help you practise so you feel confident and able to do your best. If you need more specialist help we can refer you to the National Careers Service.

We have links with local businesses and can provide you with advice and sometimes with work experience if you’re interested in a career in their sector. In some cases they’ve taken on young people from the Rendezvous.

Volunteering

We can also help with volunteering opportunities both with the Rendezvous and with other local organisations.

Qualifications

Not having Level 2 English and Maths qualifications can be a barrier to finding work.  We can help here by referring you to our Learning programme – you get to learn at your own pace, working individually with a volunteer tutor and taking the exams when you’re ready.

Success stories

Two young volunteer tutors have used their experience at the Rendezvous to take Teaching qualifications and are now teaching in secondary schools.

A young person was helped to volunteer at a local dental surgery and use the experience to secure a job at Augusta Westland, the aviation company in Yeovil.

Various young people have been helped to get jobs in farming, beauty salons and floristry.

I’m now a trainee Housing Officer in Bournemouth.  I did it because I know what Jemma and the Rendezvous did for me and I want to be able to help other people in the way they helped me
